In Turku many strategies have been done on different levels. Entrepreneurship in creative industries and cultural development is emphasised. The latest plan is Development Plan for creative industries in Turku which is in process.
Turku has in way everything needed in developing creative industries in Turku City/region. What we search for is co-operation and coordinated development of networks.
The main organisations in developing are Turku Touring, the Department of Cultural Affairs, Regional Development Centre, Youth Services and European Capital of Culture 2011 foundation.
The most important project in Turku is Cultural Capital 2011 process. Projects which promote business operations are Arsnet - marketing, Christmas City of Finland - network between tourism, culture and business, Megame (digital adventure park) and Turku Game Organisation.
Statistics and defininitions are needed. Turku has a wide education and research background: Turku University of Applied Sciences, Turku School of Economics and Business Administration, University of Turku and Aabo Akademi. We want students to stay in Turku after they finish their education.
Revenue of creative industries in Southwest Finland is over 1 milliard euros per year. It is more than twice bigger than for example bio industries.
Although revenue of creative industries is only about 12 percent of ICT sector's and metal and sea industries' revenue, the number of creative firms is bigger and there are half times more jobs in creative industries.
The priority branches in Turku are film industry and animation. Marketing, Design and Architecture are strong branches without any public support.
The needs and expectations for this project:
- models of business skills
- marketing
- productization
- sponsorship
- funding knowledge
